LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

Lee, Zak, Warren, Shaun, Mick, Darren, Faz and Bob of the Lincoln & Newark Scooter Rider Collective. “We’re all Lambretta riders, we set off at around 10am and were joined on the way by another 12 riders. It’s great see a good turnout for the first National Rally of the season and we’ll be completing the EuroLambretta rally later this year.”

OUT ON THE TOWN

It was a plain sailing ride-in for the Two + Two Scooter Crew from Co Durham. Having said that, just in case there were any issues they had a back-up van acting as their own roadside recovery truck. “We rode in on Friday morning, there were 19 of us altogether and on the way we stopped off at Birkbrow for a coffee and a leg-stretch. We were out on the town last night and we’re looking forward to carrying on again tonight!”

FRIENDSHIPS FORMED

Members of the Manchester Lyons SC and Stockport Crusader, Seamus Murphy who’d ridden over the Pennines and palled up with ‘Rocky’ from Beverley SC. “The ride over went well, it was a good blow-out for the scooters and it’s now the riders that have got all the usual aches and pains! We’re going to sign on the best supporting member register with the LCGB and after that we’re going to have a few beers and enjoy the entertainment,” they smiled.

MATES’ RATES

Gary and Karen Ingham of the Burnley & Pendle SC. Gary got into scooters in the late 70s and started off with a Lambretta GP200. “Karen and I got together in 2012 and I introduced her to the scooter scene. We were lucky this weekend with our rally accommodation because we’ve got a friend who’s got a B&B, which is very close to the Pavilion. As well as that, she did ‘mates’ rates’ for us for three nights and she does a fantastic breakfast. We’re looking forward to tonight’s entertainment, I’m mainly into Ska and The Jam and Karen loves Northern Soul so there should be plenty for us to enjoy.”

SCOOTER LOVE REIGNED OVER HIM Seventeen-year-old scooterist, Joseph Bland. “I got into scooters after I watched Quadrophenia with a pal at the beginning of lockdown. After that I was hooked and I’ve never looked back. The first scooter I got was a 50cc AJS Modena, which I blew up; after that I had two Vespa PK50s which had terrible performance. When I turned 17, I got this Li150 Series 3 and started going to rallies and scooter events as soon as the lockdown restrictions were lifted. I rode here yesterday morning with a few other club members and I’m camping for the weekend at the rally campsite.”
