“John was one of the bravest lads I’ve had the privilege to call a friend; a hard-working man who never hurt anyone in his life, who loved his wife, children and grandchildren.”

Alec Lea

“Thanks for those who attended John’s funeral, we gave him a good send-off and the family really appreciated us being there. RIP John.”

Pete Bourn

I can’t let this issue go without a special acknowledgement to the passing of one of our own: John Lowe, who was a member of our local scooter club, the Generations SC, Horncastle.

John unfortunately passed away in May of this year after fighting a losing debilitating battle for his health, which had deteriorated over the past year or so. His funeral took place on June 14 at St Mary’s Church; he was escorted from his family home on his final journey by members of the Generations SC and other scooterist friends. John was an enthusiastic scooter rider with a special penchant for the Vespa marque and made many friends (myself included) over the years; he will be sorely missed, not only by his family but by those in the local scootering community who knew him.

Although I’ve known John personally for about 18 years, it would be wrong for me to act as a representative for the whole club, as others have known him for much longer, so I’ve left it for a few fellow club members to have their say. Space dictates there isn’t room for everyone to have their say, so apologies to those individuals.

“I’d rather it had been for a better occasion, but John deserved the send-off he got; he was well-respected, you could tell by the amount of people in the church.”

Les Johnson

“To all the scooter riders who turned up for John’s funeral, you all did the man proud – absolute respect to you guys.”
