The Rollersack

Hope you’re all making the best of the summer months and getting out and about on your beloved scooters.

-

If you are and have been on a decent road trip, or have made an overnight stay, then you’ll need to carry at least some luggage. This could be an overnight bag for bare essentials (fresh set of clothes and a wash bag, etc); or it could be a list with more items on than the conveyor belt on the Generation Game (especially if you’re taking a partner of the female variety, commonly known in a less politically correct form as ‘Our Lass’). This then becomes a game changer as to what’s classed as bare essentials – such as hairdryer and towels (in case the hotel hasn’t got them), ball gown, 14 pairs of shoes and five handbags????? So the luggage carrying capacity of your scooter then has to increase accordingly.

The ability and reputation of a classic Vespa or Lambretta being able to carry a bull elephant is legendary and well documented; we’ve all seen the images of Mr and Mrs Singh, three bairns, Grandma Singh, a goat, a dog, luggage and some shopping, happily riding home along the bumpy roads of Uttar Pradesh on their prized scooter. The scooters just handle it fantastically, especially if fitted with front and rear racks – all well and good if you want that style.

But, what if you like your pride and joy to look bog standard, not wanting anything to detract from the beautiful lines that came from the minds of Innocenti, Bertone, Piaggio, D’Ascanio et al. Well look no further; the new Rollersack fits safely in the gap between the seat and the headset and can be easily removed once you’ve arrived at your location, leaving just the beautiful silhouette as it was meant to be.

ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER…

“The Rollersack is the perfect way to transport your luggage safely and comfortably in the step-through. This new design is a collaboration with Sabine Raper, developer and manufacturer of the Rollersack original, and the Scooter-Center who have commissioned a renowned German bag manufacturer to produce a small series of the Rollersack.

“Sabine first developed the Rollersack for herself to be able to ride with luggage comfortably. It wasn’t long before she began to get requests to make them for friends. So Sabine developed a modular system that can be expanded as needed, depending on the intended use.

“We offer the Rollersack in the standard version with three additional attachment pockets. The differences between the Rollersack (handmade in Dortmund) and the Rollersack by SC can be found in the online details.

“The original plastic loops are replaced by rubber strap loops, the back panel and the bottom are reinforced with foam instead of synthetic leather as in the handmade version.”
