All-Knighters enjoy rally success at new venue

After many months of lockdown disappointments, Sleaford All-Knighters SC finally managed to hold the return of its long-awaited scooter rally ‘Back and Forth (Take 2)’.

This event was held at a new venue, the Coach & Horses, in Billinghay in Lincolnshire; the village is just a short ride from the All-Knighters’ Sleaford base.

With the event commencing on the Friday, the new venue proved to be a success, with plenty of food and drink available. Music during the day was provided by DJ Ray who kept a great mix of music going until the evening when a musical duo called Kingston went on stage (these guys were very good).

Saturday in general was busy for club members as more riders and clubs arrived at the rally field. One scooter that stood out was an immaculate Dayton Albatross (one of the fastest British-made scooters in its day, but rarely seen on the roads now).

There was a mid-morning Saturday rideout to the nearby Bubblecar Museum and quite a group of scooters set off; on the way, they took time to visit the RAF Coningsby base to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and especially the Lancaster.

Later in the afternoon, a scooter custom show took place with some nice scoots on display (a credit to their owners); rallygoers could vote for their favourite in several categories and I felt sorry for the couple who volunteered to tot up the results. While the show was going on, a Hurricane from the BBMF flew over the rally field several times; it was nice to see this plane in action.

After the custom show there was music from Wella Fella and Andy Ska, followed by some games; then later that evening they had The Sound AKA banging out the music. On both nights, the marquee was full with people dancing, and after three years of waiting, it was nice to see so many people having a really good time.

This was a great event at a new venue; well done to the pub, the club organisers, and everyone who turned up to make this rally such a success.

The Cake Man Thanks to Roy Workman, Pete Bourn and Sleaford All-Knighters for allowing use of their pictures – many more plus videos can be found on Sleaford All-Knighters SC Facebook Page.
