Oddballs virgin

Jason ‘Shambles’ Shambrook, Guernsey Scooter Collective:

“I had to get the ferry from Guernsey to Poole on Thursday evening, arriving around midnight. Overnight in the Premier Inn and then just under 100 miles up to Abingdon, which was very easy on a GTS! If anyone is looking for a rally that’s different from the norm then Oddballs is the one. Great bands, professionally run and full of people that just want to have a good time. With over a dozen pubs in Abingdon what more could you want! It’s the first on my list for next year.”

Oddballs veteran

Pete has been to every Oddballs rally so far. “I arrived on Thursday, had a brilliant night, and had even more fun on Friday. I had to get up early-ish this morning to ride to Bletchley to fetch Tracy, who hasn’t been on a rally and hasn’t seen King Kurt since the late 80s. It’s gonna be mental tonight. Oddballs gets better every year, fair play to Vince and his Oddballs crew, they nail it every time.”

Oddballs first time live act

As well as being a musician, recording artist and entertainer, Mark, from Guernsey, has also been a rally-going scooterist since the early 80s. He’d planned to ride to Oddballs in 2020 with his (club) mate Shambles. “I loved being there and Vince and the team were so welcoming and helpful. I just wish I had had one of my scooters with me, next year eh? Shambles was hilarious – he wanted to get on stage with me, and he certainly embraced it as Sham Bez!”

Oddballs crew member

Steve Tyrrell, Kellys Heroes SC: ‘I’ve been on site helping out with the set-up since before the rally started. I’ll be part of the team clearing up after too. It’s been full on, non-stop for me. I wouldn’t have it any other way, it’s a great rally and for a good cause too. Being part of the Oddballs crew I get to put a bit back into the scene. It’s already the busiest one yet; Thursday was like a Friday, and yesterday was like a Saturday. I’m looking forward to King Kurt tonight. I took on the project to finish my Vespa when it got too much for the previous owner – it’s taken me two years, it was touch and go whether it’d be ready (for Oddballs). Got there, it’s my first time proper out on it.”
