Go-faster Vespa stuff
In this month’s page I present to you several items to make our grande e piccolo classic Vespas go faster from a couple of the big tuning companies that are out there.
Iwas recently contacted by Joey’s Speedshop to say I should give the Armandos brothers a call over there in Sheffield as they’d just received information that Pinasco, the Italian tuning house they’ve been strongly associated with since the 1980s, has just sent out a dealer alert announcing its new 260cc plug and play motors for largeframe Vespas.

The complete kit comes in two versions, The Master, which offers the standard rotary induction, or The Slave set-up which is
SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR VESPA 50s
As the popularity of smallframe Vespas has grown in recent times and the quest for ‘super power’ has developed, the once humble and tame Vespa smallframe has become a rocket ship piloted by scooter sportsmen; any one of these guys (Adie Horrocks, for instance) could soon develop a motor so powerful it will transport them into another dimension through a portal to another world. Unimaginable performance developed through complemented by a reed valve induction.
When I spoke with Giulio from Armandos, he was very excited about the new motors as he’d already built three 251cc versions recently with very positive feedback, so was expecting even greater results from Pinasco’s higher-capacity versions.
At the time of speaking, they were eagerly awaiting delivery of the new versions and couldn’t wait to get one built up and tested.

But what about owning a ‘smallie’ in the real world that you just want to ride but wish it had just a little more mustard, especially in standard 50cc trim? Well, Scooter Center has been at it again and has produced a version of its popular BGM Pro Touring exhaust especially aimed at the V50 models.
The German parts supplier says: “The BGM Pro Touring exhaust, with its original look, offers a significant increase in power on the shortstroke engines. The touring exhaust system, true to its name, is ideal for a fast, powerful but visually and acoustically unobtrusive street engine. It harmonises very well with the common tuning cylinders of 75-112cc displacement, but is also more than clearly superior to the stock exhaust on a 50cc stock engine.”
IT OFFERS:
■ Beautiful original look of Vespa V50 models ■ Solidly manufactured
■ Early and high torque
■ Good peak power
■ Wide rev band
■ More top speed
■ Also suitable with 3.50-10 tyres
■ Inconspicuous
■ Hand-made in Europe
■ Clear painted
The BGM Pro Touring exhaust fits without modifications on Vespa V50, 50N/L/R, 50 Special models. The original aluminium manifold is omitted as the exhaust is designed in one piece and mounts directly to the cylinder.
