Scootering

SCOOTER DETAILS

-

Name of scooter: Evel Knievel. If you were growing up in the 70s Evel Knievel inspired everybody to see how many mates you could jump over as a kid. Scooter model: SIL GP 200.

When purchased: 2008.

Time to build & by who: It’s been through a few changes since I got it, but the Evel Knievel build was completed by Pete Faulkner (Pete’s Scoots).

ENGINE SPEC

Kit: RB225.

Crank: Sip Performance 62mil.

Carb: 34mil Dell’Orto.

Exhaust: Chiselspeed (CST 4).

Clutch: LTM seven-plate.

Gearbox: Li150.

Porting work by: Martin Cook, Chiselspeed. Brakes: Front, disc with anti-dive kit. Rear, drum. Suspension: Front, Targa Line dampers. Rear, Chiselspeed shocker.

Dyno: Chiselspeed 30bhp/22 torque.

What’s it like to ride?: It was designed around me so it’s spot on.

FRAME SPEC:

Paintwork & murals by: Jamie Lee Wood, Relentless Paintworx.

Chrome by: Karl Russell, Quality Chrome, Hull. Seat by: Daryl, Trim Upholstery, Bradford.

Any frame modifications? What & by whom: Frame modified to create a custom seating position and chopped rear end.

Are there are any specialised parts: Extended forks, twisted centre-stand and seat.

What was the hardest part of the project: Waiting for everything to be completed and choosing the paintwork design. Although it’s quite a simple design, explaining what you want and how you want it doing can get complicated.

Do you have any advice or tech tips for anyone starting a project: Make sure you do your costings and set out a budget. When you’ve done that throw it in the bin because it’ll end up being double!

Is there anything still to add to the scoot: Maybe a twisted side-stand and chrome hubs.

Is there anyone you wish to thank: Everyone who’s helped me with the project from start to finish. (A great set of lads).
