Win a luxury stay in St Andrews

Rufflets St Andrews is one of the historic town’s oldest hotels

-

One lucky winner and their guest will win a two-night stay at Rufflets St Andrews, including dinner in the restaurant one evening, where they can experience the wonders of Scottish produce, and breakfast on both mornings.

Set within 10 acres of award-winning gardens and adorned with luscious creepers and stately turrets, Rufflets is the epitome of relaxed luxury. Rufflets was built in 1924 as the private home of Anne Brydon Gilroy, widow of one of the descendants of the jute barons – her initials can still be seen engraved above the keystone leading to the south garden.

Since then, three generations of the same family have poured their hearts and souls into creating a luxury hotel that still brims with charm and warmth.

The 26 rooms and suites are individually designed. Choose from the regal Turret Rooms, with romantic window seats and four-poster beds; the Gatehouse Rooms, spacious and private, and only a few steps from the hotel; and the Superior Rooms, with south-facing windows, and quirky touches.

In August 2023, the hotel will further elevate its standard of luxury with four new shepherd huts within the grounds, allowing guests a sustainable connection with nature that inspires joy, wellbeing, and wholesome relaxation.

Step inside the shepherd huts to discover a cosy living space with a log burning stove, a kitchen stocked with a welcome hamper packed with home-grown and local produce, and a rich colour palette inspired by nature. Each hut is named after the birds of the Kingdom of Fife – Goldfinch, Kingfisher, Mallard, and Swallow. Outside, a decked terrace overlooking the Kinness Burn river allows guests to listen to the unique birdlife. The Family Hut – Mallard – will be stocked with board games and comes with an outdoor tub for all to enjoy.

Inside the main hotel, the two AA Rosette restaurant, which our winner and their guest will get to enjoy, is a sophisticated dining experience, with its plush booths, oak tables, and latticed windows. Every dish is created using fresh, seasonal produce grown in Rufflets’ own kitchen gardens. The chef and gardener work in harmony to create a nourishing menu reflecting the very best organic home-grown ingredients, from the fruit and vegetables, to eggs from Rufflets’ own brood of organically fed hens.

Head Gardener Logie Cassells recently made history in partnership with Scottish organic brewery, Futtle, when he became the first person to successfully grow organic hops in Scotland, while continuing to meticulously preserve Rufflets’ award-winning gardens.
