From 22 stone to a personal trainer
NICK AISH worked in the recruitment industry for 13 years, but the long hours and business trips took a toll on his health.
He reached 22 stone and knew he needed to get fit and change his lifestyle.
The 41- year- old, f rom Faversham, Kent, did boxing and used a personal trainer.
He lost 8½ stone and realised he didn’t want to carry on working in an office. He decided to become a personal trainer to inspire others to get fit.
In 2009, he quit his job and enrolled in Premier Training International’s Diploma in Advanced Personal Training in Dartford, Kent.
After the ten-week course, he went on to launch Nick Aish Health & Fitness Ltd.
‘At first, I loved recruitment because it’s a service role, but as I progressed it became a corporate environment.
‘I was staying in hotels, so I’d have a starter, main and dessert and a bottle of wine, plus big breakfasts.
‘At home I’d eat pizza and chocolate, and I didn’t do any exercise. I realised I needed to focus on myself as opposed to work. That’s when I started to get fit.
‘My trainer told me I’d be great at instructing others, so I gave it a go.’
Mr Aish, who now weighs 14½ stone, works with five instructors and has contracts with a retirement village and a gym.
‘I wouldn’t change my job for the world. When I was bigger it was never an option. I’m a different person.
‘Workwise, there are many opportunities and, from a health point of view, you’re meeting like-minded people.’
