Repair bill cap
THE Government is cracking down on councils that hit leaseholders with extortionate bills for building repairs
Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, is proposing a cap so those who buy their council house are charged a maximum of £10,000 for repairs over five years (£15,000 if in London).
He says the cap would apply to councils that get government funding for maintaining their tenants’ homes.
