Paolo’s pain as he and high school sweetheart break up
HE has never been afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve when it c o mes to singing about relationships.
But Paolo Nutini has spoken for the first time about his latest painful split from long-term girlfriend Teri Brogan.
The multi-million selling Scots singer and his stunning childhood sweetheart have once again called time on their turbulent ten-year on-off romance.
And the Paisley-born star – who has previously revealed how his songwriting l eaves him feeling ‘ very exposed’ – blames his constant life on the road for the recent break-up.
He said: ‘You go around on tour proclaiming how amazing this person is and how much you love them, but the person you care about so much is at home on their own.
‘There’s absolutely no solace when there’s so much absence.’
The couple, both from Paisley, had been an item long before success kicked in, ultimately resulting in two triple-platinum selling albums.
They started dating at the age of 15, although there have been a few notable hiccups along the way.
Miss Brogan, a marketing graduate and model, waltzed off with another Scots singer, Will Howell, several years ago, only to return to her former partner.
The brief break-up inspired the 27year- old singer- songwriter’s debut album These Streets, which sold nearly two and a half million copies.
Despite the release of his new album Caustic Love, which has been five years in the making, the Scot still seriously doubts his talents.
Talking about his anxieties, he admitted, candidly: ‘ I know five guys from my home town who might never get a shot, who can play rings around me.
‘I don’t know whether I can do this the way that I would like to see myself do it.’
However, it would appear he has found another shoulder to cry on as he attempts to put his break-up behind him.
Several weeks ago, the singer was spotted on a night out with blonde television presenter Laura Whitmore, sparking rumours they were secretly dating.
