After just one series, Kylie quits The Voice

- Daily Mail Reporter

WHEN she arrived on The Voice, she brought millions of extra viewers with her.

But Kylie Minogue dealt a huge blow to the BBC yesterday by confirming she will not return for the next series.

The 45-year-old has been credited with transforming the fortunes of the ailing BBC1 talent show, proving popular with audiences in her role as a judge.

She said her decision to quit after just one year was due to a clash with the dates of her European tour. The Australian star released album Kiss Me Once last month and will begin her tour in the UK in September.

But her announcement will leave BBC bosses in turmoil. In recent weeks, The Voice’s ratings had beaten those of ITV rival Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway for the first time, in what had been dubbed ‘the Kylie effect’.

Yesterday, Miss Minogue broke the news to fans on Twitter, adding in a statement: ‘I’m sad to say that, due to the timing of my European tour, I won’t be back for season four. I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ll miss all of the incredible people who were a part of my experience.’

Moira Ross, executive producer at production company Wall To Wall, said: ‘Kylie has brought her own very special magic to The Voice UK and we have loved having her on the show. We wish her well for her tour and hope to welcome her back in the future.’

Miss Minogue’s debut appearance on The Voice pulled in 8.4million viewers – two million more than the opening show of the previous series. She was paid around £500,000 to join the judging panel.
