Can we help you manage your medication?

-

If you have been prescribed long-term medication by your GP, it can sometimes be challenging to manage and monitor your intake. Boots offers a range of services designed to help you take control of multiple medications. Boots pharmacist Meera Amin explains how she and her colleagues can help…

Q How can the Boots Pharmacy Team help me manage my daily medication?

A We offer a free Medisure Service, designed to make taking your prescription medicines as straightforward as possible. If you take multiple medications, we can arrange tablets or capsules into separately sectioned blister packets*, each clearly marked with the day and time period when the dosage should be taken. It will help to regulate your intake and identify any missed doses, so that problems can be identified as soon as possible. The Medisure Service is also there for those who care for people on a regime of medicines.

Q Can I get advice on medications I have been prescribed?

A We want to help you understand your medicines better. Depending on where you live, there are various services available in pharmacies to get help with your prescriptions. In England, the NHS New Medicine Service** is available and designed for those who have been given a new prescription to treat certain long-term conditions such as asthma or diabetes. This involves a pharmacist offering advice about your new medications and how to take them. We will then invite you back a couple of weeks later and around one month later for a one-to-one appointment or telephone consultation to check how you are getting on with the new regime. If you are unsure as to what services are available in your local Boots store, just ask a member of the pharmacy team.

Q How else can Boots help me with my prescriptions?

A We offer a free repeat prescription service, where we request your repeat prescription from your GP and get your medication ready for you when you ask us to. We will then text you when it is ready for collection.

Some GP surgeries in England can now also send your prescription electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. If you would like to nominate a Boots pharmacy, then just let us or your doctor know.
