IT is a fabulous area of the Highlands showcased in Billy Connolly and David Tennant’s new movie.

And visitors to the area can follow in the stars’ footsteps on a memorable family walk.

Don’t miss the fabulous Red Point coastal walk as featured in the film.

This walk links the two Red Point beaches with loads to discover along the way.

Combining a short circuit with great views to the islands, you will soon reach two of the most spectacular sandy beaches in Scotland.

The wide Red Point South beach has great views across to the Applecross peninsula and to the Isle of Skye. The little island of Eilean Tioram can be reached across the sands. Red Point North Beach is backed by a gigantic sand dune which provides a great playground for children.

To finish the day, relax with some fine real ales and delicious seafood in a picturesque setting at the Badachro Inn or the Old Inn nearby. Another delightful family walk near Gairloch is the waymarked path through the sheltered glen to pretty Flowerdale waterfall. Here, you will enjoy fabulous autumn colours and tremendous views looking down the Glen across to the Isle of Skye and beyond.

On the way you will pass Flowerdale House, the family seat of the Mackenzies of Gairloch since 1738. The Flowerdale Glen was given its English name by the Mackenzies of Gairloch in honour of its impressive displays of wild flowers.

The sheltered glen supports plants such as bog orchids, bog asphodels, butterwort and sundew, while wildlife includes. voles, pine marten, stoats and weasels
