Little girl who had three ‘fathers’ in only two years

- By Rachel Watson

HER short life ended after only two years.

Yet in that time, little Madison Horn knew not one but three f ather figures.

Yesterday, it emerged that the man registered on her birth certificate is not her father.

Steven Horn from Kelty in Fife is officially listed as having fathered Madison.

However, it has been revealed that the toddler was conceived when her mother Anne Marie White had a onenight stand with another man, Thomas Haldane.

The 23-year-old from Ballingry, Fife did not find out he was the toddler’s father until Madison was four months old.

But it was not just these two men who had a hand in raising the little girl.

Tragically, only weeks after her second birthday, Kevin Park became the third man to enter little Madison’s life – which he would ultimately take.

After giving birth to Madison, Miss White registered her then boyfriend, Mr Horn, as her daughter’s father.

Even after the youngster’s death she referred to Mr Horn as Madison’s ‘daddy’ on her Facebook page.

Despite this, a paternity test which had been arranged by Mr Horn’s family when Madison was only months old proved he was not her father.

Instead, the test confirmed that Mr Haldane was her father.

Mr Haldane said that the results were ‘the best thing to happen to me’ as it allowed him to be part of the little girl’s life.

He added that he hoped Park was never released after taking away his

‘wee princess’. He said: ‘He treated Madison l i ke a rag doll and smashed her about.

‘The fact is he has taken away my wee angel, my wee princess. He has ruined my life.

‘I hope he is never released. It has just shattered my heart.’

Mr Haldane’s mother, Alexis Munro, said: ‘When Madison was born, Anne Marie told Thomas, “Don’t bother coming to the hospital, the bairn’s not yours”.’

After getting the results, Mr Haldane took a more active role in his daughter’s life, despite not being put on her birth certificate.

Then last year, weeks after Madison’s second birthday, Miss White started a relationship with the man who would eventually murder her daughter.

Shortly after they became a couple, Park moved into Miss White’s home – which she shared with little Madison.

Despite his previous domestic assault conviction, Miss White trusted Park with her young daughter.

Even in the hours after little Madison died, Miss White went online to defend her boyfriend f rom rumours stating that he had killed her daughter.

She claimed that the father of two loved Madison and that ‘ he would never hurt her’.

On the weekend of her death, Madison was due to be with her father, who had planned an Easter egg hunt with his family.

However, Miss White asked if she could keep the youngster as she and Park were going to take her on a train, which was Madison’s favourite thing to do.

But, as has emerged in court, Miss White l eft her boyfriend babysitting Madison while she went out with friends.

Mr Haldane said that he had been horrified to learn this as Park made him ‘nervous’.

He also claimed that Madison had changed since Park had moved into her home.

He said: ‘When we said, “Are you going to see Uncle Kevin?” she would be grabbing at the hinge. I was nervous 24/7 because I knew he was doing drugs.’

Mr Haldane also spoke of the night Madison died.

He said that after arriving at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife, he was told to ‘ prepare for the worst’.

Recalling the night, he said: ‘She was lying on her bed flat.

‘The blood was dried inside her skin and running underneath her flesh. Her wee lips were blue. She was basically passed away by the time I got there.

‘I said, “Right, darling, Daddy will see you when he sees you”.’

Last night, little Madison’s family life was again put under the spotl i ght as the mother of Park’s two children said they were now without a father because of ‘ sick lies’.

Writing on her Facebook page, Gemma Naughton from Ballingry, Fife, said: ‘Ma kids r left without a f****** dad coz of sick lies.’

Her sister Nicole Naughton said: ‘What about the “accidents” Madison had before Kevin watched her?

‘Who kens what went on before that night and on that night.

‘Anne Marie knew what he was like, so why she even left the bairn with him I’ll never know.’
