Wills: Kate has nightmare hair

- By Emily Kent Smith and Liz Hull

IT WAS a festive feast fit for a Queen … and a 17-month-old future king.

Prince George was spotted being driven through the gates of Buckingham Palace as the royal family came together for their annual Christmas lunch yesterday.

The prince – who has mostly been kept out of the spotlight since William and Kate’s tour of Australia in April – was seen clutching a book and gazing at the crowds outside as he arrived with his Spanish nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined their son at the lunch and Kate, 32, was clearly in festive mood in a red outfit with drop earrings that were somewhat reminiscent of Christmas trees.

Her hair was swept into a sleek half-up style – perhaps to prove a point to William, who earlier in the day had described his wife’s locks as a ‘nightmare’.

William, 32, was visiting homeless charity Centrepoint’s health and wellbeing centre in Soho when he met a trainee hairdresser and joked that she should try styling Kate’s ‘nightmare hair’. Quite what is so problematic about Kate’s locks he failed to elaborate, but taming them is currently the job of £300-a-day stylist Amanda Cook Tucker.

Yesterday’s lunch – where Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice were also among the guests – is a royal tradition which allows the Queen to meet with more distant relations who are not invited to Sandringham on Christmas Day.

At the entrance to the royal household, police held crib sheets to help identify more obscure members of the family.
