New war wound for Philip after he takes the reins again at 93

-

WITH a packed public diary and more energy than a man half his age, Prince Philip refuses to let his advancing years slow him down.

He was out in the springlike weather enjoying a spot of carriage driving through the grounds of Windsor Great Park this week, accompanied by two female grooms.

Philip has been an avid carriage driver since 1971, when he took up the sport after giving up polo.

He enjoys regular outings with his son Prince charles’s old friend Lady Brabourne.

Just hours l ater, the 93-year-old Duke was seen at a high-profile Buckingham Palace reception sporting two ‘ butterfly stitches’ over a graze on his right ear. Buckingham Palace declines to comment on t he i nj ury, although a senior royal source said that the old brute was unbothered as he joined the Queen for a reception marking the 800th anniversary of Magna carta.

‘I can tell you the Duke was in fine fettle and very much unconcerned, ’ I’m told.
