Macca’s home sold for £150k

-

HE is the only member of the Beatles to receive a knighthood. But it seems Sir Paul McCartney memorabilia isn’t quite as precious to fans as that of his bandmates.

For one of his childhood homes has sold at auction for £150,000 – trailing behind prices fetched by those of George Harrison and John Lennon.

The 72-year-old lived at the terraced house in Speke from 1947 until the mid-1950s. The bidding opened at £100,000, with auctioneer Andrew Brown, of Countrywide Property, saying: ‘Tonight you are bidding on a part of Liverpool’s heritage.’

Yet Harrison’s home from the same era sold last year for £156,000, and Lennon’s sold in 2013 for £480,000.

Mr Brown added that all the Beatles properties they have sold have gone to ‘real fans’ of the group.

Despite its modest price, McCartney’s old home went for more than double the average price for the area.
