Google u-turn on porn ban
GOOGLE has done a u-turn on banning porn on its blogging website just days after it introduced the new rules.
It said users of Blogger.com will be free to post X-rated content so long as they mark it ‘adult’.
The company said it was concerned about the ‘negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities’. Google had originally said it would take down any blogs that posted X-rated material after March 23. However the changes were criticised as confusing and a clampdown on free speech.
Google has faced calls from MPs to do more to clamp down on internet porn. The Daily Mail has campaigned for effective filters and as a result Google agreed in 2013 to remove child abuse images from search results.
