Jags to cut all ties with suspended McMillan
JORDAN McMILLAN is set to have his contract terminated by Partick Thistle today. The defender was mysteriously suspended on full pay by the club in January. At the time, the Jags refused to say why the former Rangers and Dunfermline player had been told to stay away from Firhill, a terse statement revealing only: ‘Partick Thistle has suspended Jordan McMillan, on full pay, pending the outcome of an internal investigation. ‘The club will be making no further comment.’ A spokesman then added that manager Alan Archibald and players would not be answering questions about McMillan. McMillan joined the Jags in 2013 after a season-and-a-half at Dunfermline. He was one of eight players made redundant when the Pars went into administration. The 26-year-old has made 29 appearances for Thistle, who face Dundee United at Tannadice today, but has not featured since the club’s 4-0 win at Inverness on December 13. Meanwhile, United midfielder Chris Erskine admits he lost his cool when he was hooked just six minutes into Tuesday night’s pulsating 1-1 draw with Inverness. But he insists his annoyance wasn’t borne out of anger at Jackie McNamara for sacrificing him after keeper Michal Szromnik’s early dismissal — but merely frustration at what he viewed as a missed chance to impress. Clearly upset after McNamara was forced into a tactical reshuffle, Erskine says he fully understood the manager’s decision. Erskine, who hopes to feature more prominently in today’s visit of his former club, said: ‘I’m obviously going to be unhappy coming off after six minutes. I was doing really well for the first five months of the season and then, over the last six games, I haven’t featured much. ‘I was looking to get back into the team to stay. Maybe I reacted the wrong way but everything is sorted out now.’
