GOW TO AID SAINTS

- GEORGE GRANT

ALAN GOW is confident he can help St Mirren’s battle for survival after making numerous short-term impacts at his former clubs. Gow has not played a firstteam game since rupturing ankle ligaments while on loan with Bristol Rovers from Exeter a year ago, with his recovery delayed by an infection in the wound. The 32-year-old had to do his rehabilitation at former club Rangers in the first half of the season after his Exeter contract expired but he is now looking to make a comeback with St Mirren against Hamilton today. The skilful forward, who had a spell in India three years ago, is accustomed to settling in quickly in new places and feels he can hit the ground running. ‘I’ve been used to that,’ he said. ‘This is my 14th club. When you’ve had so many clubs, it’s quite good because you usually know guys in the dressing room. ‘I believe I can make a quick impact. I’m not fully fit yet but I played an hour for the Under-20s during the week, so I will hopefully be involved soon. ‘I’ve played at a lot of clubs and a lot of levels. I know I’m a good player but it will be down to me to show that whenever I get a chance.’
