BIZARRE LINK TO A NOTORIOUS MURDER
A BIZARRE link between the Edinburgh child sex ring and one of Britain’s most notorious child murders can be revealed today.
Both Nisbet and Henderson were associates of a known paedophile who was interviewed by detectives investigating the abduction of fiveyear-old Caroline Hogg.
The pair provided an alibi for the man, who has not been named, and he was eliminated as a suspect from the 1983 inquiry as a result.
It is understood all three men claimed they were in a brothel at the time of Caroline’s disappearance.
Serial child killer Robert Black was later convicted of the girl’s murder. A retired detective said: ‘Caroline disappeared on a hot summer weekend and at the time the beach at Portobello was swarming with people.
‘Over the two weeks or so that followed, we were given the names of dozens of known paedophiles who had been seen at the beach that day.
‘This particular guy claimed to have been with friends, and when pressed the friends turned out to be Henderson and Nisbet.’
Later Henderson was a pivotal figure in the so-called ‘magic circle’ scandal after claiming senior legal figures conspired to ensure homosexual criminals were given softtouch treatment by the courts.
