Sweet success in £500k hotel sale
A HOTEL where the recipe for sticky toffee pudding is said to have been discovered has been bought for more than £500,000.
The Udny Arms in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, shut last year, but yesterday Aberdeen-based property agent Graham & Sibbald confirmed it has now been sold.
It is understood the buyer is a businessman who will keep it as a hotel. It had been feared it would be made into flats. Community council secretary Glen Douglas said: ‘We’ll be over the moon to see it reopen.’
The recipe for the dessert is said to have been found in an old book in the hotel.
