Cliff edge

I CARRY no torch for Cliff Richard. I’ve always considered him a too goody-goody, whose conceit was matched only by his vanity (those calendars every year!).

That said, the guy shouldn’t be pilloried as he has been these past weeks. Whatever happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty’?

Cliff is undergoing trial by media, sowing seeds of doubt in the public’s mind without a scintilla of hard facts. South Yorkshire police should keep silent until there’s some solid evidence before trickling titbits of innuendo to the press.
