Danczuk brother quizzed over new sex abuse claims

- By Nazia Parveen

THE brother of MP’s wife Karen Danczuk was released on bail yesterday after being questioned by police for more than 14 hours over new sex abuse claims.

Michael Burke, 36, was arrested on suspicion of historical sexual offences a month after he was first held following complaints by Mrs Danczuk.

The divorced father of three, a security guard, was questioned by police in Manchester as a result of claims by two more women that he sexually abused them.

Police said he was arrested at his home in Rochdale on Thursday morning after ‘new information came to light’.

Last month Mrs Danczuk, 31, who is married to Labour MP Simon Danczuk, claimed in a newspaper interview that she was raped and sexually assaulted between the ages of six and 12.

Mrs Danczuk, who has become wellknown for posting revealing pictures of herself on Twitter, says the abuse took place between 1989 and 1995 when she lived in Middleton, near Rochdale, after her parents split up.

She did not name her attacker but Mr Burke was later arrested.

Last week he denied the claims in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. Mrs Danczuk’s parents and two of her siblings dismissed her version of events, calling her an attention- seeker. But Mrs Danczuk said: ‘I am not a fantasist.’ She added that she would never forgive her mother and that she was ‘still coming to terms’ with what happened to her.

One of the fresh allegations against Mr Burke being investigated by police is said to have taken place when he was at school and aged around 14 or 15. Another is said to relate to a former partner.

Mr Burke has been released on police bail until May 4.
