CAPITAL MEN ARE WARY OF TREVISO
EDINBURGH head coach Alan Solomons has warned his side to guard against complacency when they take on Benetton Treviso in Italy this evening. The capital club demolished the Italians 48-0 in Scotland just before Christmas but Solomons believes Treviso are a very different proposition at home. ‘We all appreciate the significance of this game and are aware of just how tough it’s going to be as Treviso are a completely different kettle of fish at the Stadio Monigo,’ he said. ‘There’s a real thread of determination showing through all their games at home and we are all looking forward to Saturday evening. ‘Going into the last six rounds of the league, just eight points separate us, Scarlets and Connacht in the race for sixth place, and possible qualification for next season’s European Champions Cup, so we know the importance of the match.’ Solomons has been able to field a strong side, with Matt Scott, Greig Tonks, Ben Toolis, Hamish Watson and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne — who all featured in Scotland’s Six Nations loss to Italy — starting the match. Stuart McInally will make his first start at hooker in a side that includes Scotland cap David Denton, Dougie Fife and Jack Cuthbert.
EDINBURGH: Cuthbert; Fife, Scott, Strauss, Visser; Tonks, Hidalgo-Clyne; Sutherland, McInally, Nel, Bressler, Toolis, Coman, Watson, Denton. Live on BBC Alba, kick-off 7pm.
