RETURN TO FRONT LINE FOR GEECH
SCOTLAND and Lions legend Ian McGeechan has come out of retirement to take charge of Yorkshire Carnegie until the summer. McGeechan, 68, who is executive president of the RFU Championship club, takes over following the removal of coach Tommy McGee after a string of poor results. For the remainder of the campaign, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Bedford Blues, McGeechan will head up a coaching team of Andy Rock, Dave Baldwin and Francis Cummins. Director of rugby Chris Gibson said: ‘The club have decided to recruit the services of an experienced coach to help us achieve our immediate ambitions. ‘Tommy is out of contract at the end of this current season and we have both agreed it is better to make an announcement now so that he can consider his options for next season.’
