5 held in hunt for the killers of Putin critic

-

FIVE suspects were dragged into court by masked guards yesterday over the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.

The men, from Chechnya, were thrown into a cage in the Moscow courtroom, where two of them were charged with murder and three were remanded in custody.

One of the charged men – Zaur Dadayev, 33 – reportedly confessed and yelled ‘I love Prophet Mohammed’, adding to suspicion that Mr Nemtsov, 55, was shot in the back a week ago after showing solidarity with victims of the terror attack on the French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

But opposition activists fear he was killed on the orders of figures close to the Kremlin as he prepared a dossier on president Vladimir Putin’s efforts to stoke the Ukraine conflict.
