Edinburgh is a safe bet for city break

-

EDINBURGH is one of the safest short-break destinations in the world, according to travellers.

A survey into the safety of 42 cities placed the capital third, behind York and then Bath.

Bangkok, Istanbul and Marrakech were, after Cairo, the cities deemed riskiest to visit.

The survey of 2,075 UK adults, by Post Office Travel Insurance, showed only 1 per cent felt York was a dangerous place, while 2 per cent considered Bath unsafe.

Edinburgh had a 69 per cent safe rating, the same as Bath, with 3 per cent regarding it as risky and the rest offering no view.

Completing the top ten were Brighton, Venice, Vienna, Dublin, F l orence, St ockholm and Copenhagen.
