Poldark sparks property boom

-

PolDArK has seen millions of women lusting after a hunky Cornishman of their own.

And it seems fans are hoping to bag a picturesque Cornish home too, with househunting inquiries having more than doubled since the historical drama first aired last month, according to rightmove.

But would-be buyers will need deep pockets to make their Poldark dream a reality, with a five bed house plus three-bed cottage in the cliff-top community of Gunwalloe – where the show’s beach scenes were filmed – on sale for a whopping £1.75million, while a five-bed farmhouse will set you back £550,000.

And in the pretty harbour-side village of Charlestown, also used as a backdrop, three-bed terraces go for between £300,000 and £500,000.

Estate agents say the TV series – which ended dramatically last night – has sparked a rush of would-be buyers in what they dubbed the ‘Poldark effect’.

Brian Deacon, of linden Homes, said: ‘reservations, viewings and sales have certainly increased since the TV series highlighted the beautiful wild scenery in this part of the West Country.

‘It’s not really surprising that it is having such a positive impact on sales – this ... is such a stunning part of the world.’
