LAWRIE LOOKS FOR FANTASTIC FINALE
HERIOT’S assistant head coach Stevie Lawrie says an Edinburgh Challenge Cup Final win over Gloucester on Friday would bring the curtain down on a season he will never forget. The former Scotland international, who played for the capital club for seven years before retiring, helped guide Heriot’s to a 22-20 win over Melrose in the BT Premiership Play-Off Final on Saturday. Trailing by three points in the last play of the game, Jason Hill scored the winning try in the last minute to spark bedlam at Goldenacre. And forwards coach Lawrie took great satisfaction in the way the pack rumbled over to make the touchdown. ‘That was an incredible way to win the Premiership Play-Off Final and I am delighted for the players,’ said Lawrie. ‘They kept going and never lost faith in their ability.’
