FIVE MARATHON PLACES TO BE WON
If marathon runners are going to put themselves through the challenge of completing 26.2 miles, there can be no better compensation than to run against a backdrop that is truly heavenly.
And as far as scenic routes are concerned, the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon – which skirts the side of the worldfamous loch – is so stunning that it often takes the breath away.
As media sponsor for the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of running, the Scottish Daily Mail has secured five free places for the marathon event on Sunday, September 27.
Although it takes place in the heart of the highlands, the marathon has a truly international feel. runners travel from all over the world to take part in this event, which is ranked as a bucket list marathon time and time again. With a reputation for beautiful scenery and fantastic camaraderie, it attracts both experienced runners and those attempting the marathon distance for the first time.
Starting in moorland, the route meanders its way to the lochside through picturesque villages before arriving at the finish line in inverness.
in the centre of the highland capital, participants and spectators can enjoy the event village with live music, the Baxters Food and Drink Fayre, a sports expo and lots of children’s activities.
entry for the marathon closes on July 1, but will remain open for club, charity and overseas entries. entry will also remain open for the Baxters river Ness 10K, the Baxters river Ness 5K Fun run, the 10K Corporate Challenge and, for preschoolers, The Wee Nessie.
