VIKKI Orvice says she has been able to live a relatively normal life after taking the breast cancer drug palbociclib.
The 52-year-old has been undergoing trial treatments at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London after discovering that her cancer had spread to her spine last year.
But despite some tiredness, the sports writer from St Albans, Hertfordshire, said she is able to work full-time. Just a month after starting the course of pills she flew to Glasgow to cover the Commonwealth Games. And next summer she is intending to travel to Brazil to report on the Olympics.
She said: ‘The treatment has had a very swift effect – by the end of 2014 the tumour had shrunk, and is still shrinking now. I don’t like to think what would happen without this study.’
