Stag-do man’s balcony fall

A SCOT has died in a fall from a hotel balcony on the same day that he arrived on a sunshine island for a stag party.

Robert Gillespie, 26, right, plunged from a fifth-floor room in Ibiza on Saturday night.

Mr Gillespie, of Larbert, Stirlingshire, is understood to have checked into the two-star Piscis Park Hotel with between 15 and 20 friends before going for a night on the town.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place this morning.

The results will be sent to an investigating judge tasked with probing the death and will not be made public as is standard practice in Spain.

A specialist lab in Barcelona is also expected to conduct tests to determine if Mr Gillespie had consumed alcohol or taken drugs before the incident, which is being treated by police as a tragic accident.
