Four in line for a finals return

FOUR women are striving to make immediate returns to finals week after victories in the third round. Jill Ware and Marilyn Chapman, from the Low Laithes club at Ossett in West Yorkshire, and Ann Stephenson and Margaret Young, from Gourock in Inverclyde, all made the showpiece at Marriott Dalmahoy in October before falling in the last 16. And Jill and Marilyn moved into the fourth round this year with a 3&1 victory over Woolley Park’s Christine Coustol and Jane Birkett, while Ann and Margaret beat Skelmorlie’s Elizabeth Hyatt and Irene Papworth by the same margin.
