Help the refugees
TheRe’S a lot of misinformation about the refugee situation on the Greek island of Kos (Mail).
yes, there are refugees here and there on that magnificent island and specific places where they congregate, but most of them have money, just nowhere to stay.
The discomfort is largely on the part of tourists seeing these refugees looking lost and not knowing what their future holds. Most of the Greek islands are grappling with the same issue, as are Italy and the other Mediterranean countries.
We should petition the eU to give more support to small islands such as Kos to enable them to deal with the problem. The Greeks have enough problems of their own. The refugee problem won’t be solved without contingency plans to sort out the matter.
Instead of spending its time telling us how straight our cucumbers and bananas should be, Brussels should be helping the overstretched police on these i slands to process the paperwork quickly to enable the r efugees t o continue on t heir journey.
