Strain of pool tragedy takes its toll on Demi

- By Jemma Buckley Showbusiness Reporter

IT was the first time she had been seen since a young man drowned in her swimming pool – and the strain was clear to see on Demi Moore’s face.

The actress and her three daughters were in New York to mark her middle child Scout’s 24th birthday.

But the celebrations have been muted after the tragedy at their Beverly Hills mansion on Sunday morning.

Miss Moore, 52, looked tired on a designer shopping trip at Prada and Lanvin with her daughters. She was seen sipping coffee, dressed in a paisley printed jumpsuit and flat sandals.

The family were spotted chatting before piling into a car, with Demi carrying a huge shopping bag from Prada and another bag from Lanvin, while Scout also carried a bag from Prada.

Miss Moore, who said she was in ‘complete shock’ following the death on Sunday, tried to hide her face under glasses and a sunhat.

The actress and her three grown-up daughters from her marriage to Bruce Willis – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah – were not home when Edenilson Steven Valle, 21, drowned at their home in Los Angeles.

His body was discovered at 5.20am on Sunday. Police have ruled out any foul play, believing he tripped and fell during a party. His family said he could not swim.

The party at Miss Moore’s £ 5million mansion was thrown by the caretaker of the house. But lawyers said that, despite not being there, the actress could be financially liable for the death. Neighbours said there had been parties ‘ every day and night’ in recent weeks.

One said the parties at the home Miss Moore once shared with her third husband, actor Ashton Kutcher, 37, often included nighttime pool parties. Two weeks ago, Tallulah posted a picture of a pool party online with the caption: ‘This picture does not do justice to the glory that was our pool party last night.’
