FIVE BAXTERS RIVER NESS 5K PLACES UP FOR GRABS

ArE you just finding your feet after catching the running bug? Then the Baxters river ness 5K Fun run could be the challenge you are looking for.

The popular race – part of the Baxters Loch ness Marathon and Festival of running – takes place alongside the river in Inverness city centre, offering the perfect combinatio­n of scenery and cheering crowds.

As media sponsor of the event on September 27, the Scottish Daily Mail has secured five places for the Baxters river ness 5K Fun run to give away.

The race has a fantastic atmosphere, attracting both experience­d and novice runners, not to mention scores of people in fancy dress, charity participan­ts, children and families.

The fast and flat course sets out from Bught Park – also home to the Event Village – and takes in the picturesqu­e ness islands on the river.

The route also passes by Inverness Castle before returning to the park, where spectators line the course.

Participan­ts in the 5K will be the first of the day to cross the finish line, with runners in the Baxters river ness 10K, Corporate Challenge 10K and Baxters Loch ness Marathon also finishing in Bught Park.

In addition to these races, there is also a Wee nessie f un r un f or pre - school children.

The Event Village has live music, the Baxters Food and Drink Fayre, a Sports Expo and lots of children’s activities, making it an ideal event for a family day out whether running or spectating.
