TV’s Catriona all a-Twitter at baby news

SHE keeps millions of viewers up to date with the news.

But there was one story BBC Reporting Scotland presenter Catriona Shearer didn’t share yesterday – she is expecting her first child.

Instead she broke the news on her Twitter page, telling her army of followers she is due to give birth in January. The 34-year-old married her partner David Balfour last year after accepting his proposal as they strolled on Leven Beach in Fife.

With her alarm clock set for 3.30am, the presenter, above, is already in training for those early-morning feeds. ‘I like to be tucked up in bed by 9pm,’ she revealed recently. ‘I’m lucky to have a job I love, so getting up early doesn’t bother me.’

The broadcaster joined BBC Radio Scotland as a producer for Newsdrive and her TV breakthrough came in 2007 when Miss Shearer was hired as a news presenter on Reporting Scotland’s breakfast bulletins.
