Like? Police Facebook page is launched... in Polish only

-

SCOTTISH police have launched a website that will post messages only in Polish.

Senior officers hope the Szkocka Policja page on the social media website Facebook will help to ‘overcome language barriers’.

Latest figures show around 85,000 Polish nationals are l i vi ng in Scotland.

Glasgow has a large Polish community and local residents will now be able to read posts in their native language.

Police Scotland Chief Constable Sir Stephen House, working with the Polish Consul General to Scotland, Dariusz Alder, said: ‘The Polish community is growing in Scotland, so it’s important we use all mediums to try to contact them.’ A statement from Police Scotland adds: ‘The Facebook page allows Police Scotland to deliver a bespoke service to the Polish community in Scotland with an appropriate focus on issues, concerns and engagement which is of interest to them.’

The move comes as it has emerged that a Polish thug is a top target on a list of Scotland’s most- wanted criminals.

Patryk Jakubowksi was convicted in Poland of carrying out a robbery and making threats but he is thought to have fled to Glasgow.

Police have failed so far to trace the 29-year- old and he has since been named on a hit list of dangerous criminals on the run.
