Bring back tax discs
DO VEHICLE owners consider that abandoning the road tax disc was a wise decision?
On July 13, I had my number plates stolen from my 12-year-old VW, parked on my private rear driveway. I was at a loss to understand why until I realised that the abolition of the tax disc means these could be put on any vehicle to avoid paying both tax and insurance. There must be hundreds of untaxed, uninsured vehicles on our roads — with no way of checking until they are involved in a serious road traffic accident.
It would be interesting to know which government department was responsible for sanctioning this lessthan-useful change.
