Downright wastrie!

-

I WAS ‘fair scunnered’ to read in Graham Grant’s article (Mail) how

much was being spent on ‘translating’ from English into Scots.

Is there a government department whose remit is to dream up ways in which to squander money?

As a child growing up in Glasgow, I was bi-lingual – using the language spoken at home and the language spoken in school.

Whilst it was perfectly acceptable to learn the works of Burns and Chaucer, my parents would have been horrified if I was being taught broad Scots in school.
