NO HOPE FOR TELESCOPE

- By SAM TURNER

Sir Michael Stoute will be solely represented by Snow Sky in Saturday’s King George Vi and Queen elizabeth Stakes after telescope was ruled out with a ‘minor setback’.

the five-year- old was sent off favourite last year in the the prestigious ascot contest but was no match for winner taghrooda.

alex Smith, managing director of highclere thoroughbred racing, said: ‘‘it is only a minor setback and doesn’t look anything serious. it’s just come at the wrong moment.’

asked whether telescope could return to action as soon as next month, Smith added: ‘i would hope so. We hope he’ll be back very soon.’ Stoute’s hopes of derailing warm favourite Golden horn now rest with the supplemented Snow Sky, winner of last month’s hardwicke Stakes at royal ascot.

Meanwhile andrea atzeni will replace adam Kirby on luca cumani’s King George contender, Postponed. Kirby has been beaten three times on Postponed this season, most recently when third in the hardwicke when his tactics were criticised by John Gosden as ‘not clean and not intelligent’.

atzeni won twice on Postponed last season.
