Now MH370 windows are found on island
MORE debris thought to be from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 – which has been missing since March last year – has washed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion.
Malaysian officials said seat cushions and windows had been found in the same location where a 7ft-long piece of wing was discovered last week.
The country’s prime minister Najib Razak said the wing part was definitely from the missing plane – the first proof it crashed into the ocean 17 months ago. French and Australian investigators were more cautious – although they admitted it was highly likely to belong to the doomed jet.
‘It suggests that for the first time we might be a little bit closer to solving this baffling mystery,’ Australian prime minister Tony Abbott said.
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 disappeared on March 8 last year, inexplicably veering off course en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people – mostly Chinese – on board.
Yesterday, families of the passengers held an emotionally-charged protest in Beijing. Many said they would not believe the Malaysian authorities until the plane’s black box data and flight recorders were recovered, or bodies were found.
Dai Shuqin, the sister of a passenger, said: ‘Malaysia is desperate to put an end to this case and run away from all responsibilities.’
