JOZO COULD REPLACE VIRGIL

-

From Back Page champions have developed an interest in the 21-year-old as they prepare for the likelihood of van Dijk’s departure. However, they have lodged no formal offer as of yet. That could change if Southampton conclude a deal to sign the Dutchman in a deal worth £10m, with Everton also interested. Celtic boss Ronny Deila has insisted there is no prospect of his star defender leaving before the two-legged Champions League play-off with Swedish champions Malmo. The final touches were still being applied to Allan’s move last night, meanwhile, after the Parkhead side had a £275,000 bid accepted and agreed to let Dylan McGeouch go in the other direction, with Liam Henderson also going on loan. Today’s Premiership match with Inverness Caley Thistle has come too soon for the former Rangers target’s debut. But the 23-year-old could go into the Champions League squad for the first leg of their qualifier with Malmo at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, Malmo boss Age Hareide told Deila yesterday that the pressure is all on Celtic in next week’s game. Former Norway boss Hareide reckons there is more riding on the Parkhead side because of the Scottish club’s greater finances. Hareide said: ‘I’m glad money doesn’t count for how you play. ‘Money only buys you potential. When you look at the two teams from a financial view then, yes, Celtic should probably win. ‘But just look at Red Bull Salzburg and what we did to them. The pressure is more on Celtic to win. ‘We know we are good, especially at our stadium. I saw Celtic games against Legia Warsaw and Maribor last season and it’s all about getting it right on the night.’ Hareide also said Celtic are much changed from the team that beat his Helsingborgs side in 2012. He said: ‘They had more star names then but they have found different players who could be stars. ‘Back then, there were more established players and they had a really good team. Now it has changed. ‘There has been a big turnover in the squad. You can build to be big but it’s a struggle to keep the big players.’
