MORRIS SAYS A BIG THANK-YOU TO NEIL

- By CALUM CROWE

HAMILTON striker Carlton Morris paid tribute to former Accies boss Alex Neil after marking his full debut for the club with a goal. Morris moved to Lanarkshire on loan from Neil’s Norwich City in the summer and was on target in Saturday’s 4-0 demolition of Dundee United at New Douglas Park. And the 19-year-old English striker was quick to praise the Norwich boss for recommending Accies as the perfect club for him to prove his talents. He said: ‘Alex Neil has a lot of pedigree about him. ‘He is a Premier League manager in England and has done really well at Norwich to follow on from the great job he did here at Hamilton. ‘I know the ability and credentials he has as a manager, so I trusted him when he recommended Hamilton as being a good club for me to join on loan. ‘I trained under Alex quite a lot when I was at Norwich and I made it into a few of his squads towards the end of last season, so I know him fairly well. ‘There are definitely similarities between Norwich and Hamilton, and that is probably down to Alex and (current Accies boss) Martin Canning being close friends.’ Morris also revealed he has been pleasantly surprised by the calibre of Scottish football after making the move across the border last month. ‘I’m really enjoying my football at the moment,’ he added. ‘It’s a higher standard in Scotland than what I was expecting, if I am being honest. ‘I thought it would be similar to League Two football in England, but that’s not the case at all. ‘At Hamilton, we play a lot more football on the deck and it’s more technical. ‘There are definitely less broken arms and bruised faces than in the lower leagues in England. ‘I am really grateful for the faith that has been shown in me and I want to repay Martin Canning by scoring the goals to help Hamilton push up the league table.’
