him after the game as he just walked off the pitch. ‘I am sure there are other centre-backs and left-backs that, if he does try that again, maybe won’t let him away with it.’ Warburton (right) said Oduwa’s sheer joy at playing first-team football was behind his exuberance. ‘There is no lack of respect intended, absolutely not. Nathan is just enjoying his football. ‘He has come up here to play. It’s frustrating when you are a young player at a big club, not getting in the first team. You want competitive football. ‘We will have a quiet word with him. He is a very respectful young guy. ‘I have no doubt he will make an impression — for all the right reasons. ‘He is a very talented player and we have been chasing him for a long while. ‘Nathan comes from a terrific academy and had a good pre-season with the Spurs first team.’ Asked about Oduwa’s extravagant attempt to flick the ball over his own head and that of the defender, Warburton smiled: ‘I’m not always a big fan of that. But you have got to hope you develop a real talent — and he is a real talent. ‘I think he will go on to play for the Spurs first team. He has come here on loan to learn, as has Dominic Ball, another talented player. ‘And we will get one more boy in on loan next week, so the squad is taking shape.’ Alloa boss Danny Lennon disagreed with his own player, saying of Oduwa: ‘He certainly looks a talent. ‘He will be a breath of fresh air and you want that creativity. I don’t think he was disrespectful.’ James Tavernier also leapt to his team-mate’s defence, saying: ‘The fans loved all Nathan’s tricks and, hopefully, he will get rewarded with goals and assists. ‘I was calling him Jay-Jay Okacha (who delighted Bolton fans with his tricks a decade ago).’ Warburton confirmed Lee Wallace as club captain, saying: ‘People ask why I didn’t do it earlier but to rush into a decision of that magnitude would have been wrong. ‘It is a big responsibility. You have to know the player is up to it, also to know if he wants it. ‘But Lee has been outstanding. He fully deserved it.’
