I used to beat my wife, OJ told lawyers

-

OJ SIMPSON admitted that he used to beat his wife during interviews he gave to lawyers, video recordings reveal.

The former American football star was acquitted of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in Los Angeles in 1995.

But a year later he lost a civil lawsuit for wrongful death brought by Mr Goldman’s f a mil y and was ordered to pay them £21million in compensation.

Before the case, Simpson, now 68, gave evidence for 13 days at the office of the lawyers representing Mr Goldman’s relatives.

Until now, the VHS tapes of the interviews have been seen only by lawyers, but they have now been released as part of a new TV documentary.

On one tape, attorney Daniel Petrocelli shows Simpson, pictured, police photographs of his ex-wife with a bruised face and asks if he ever beat her ‘black and blue’. Simpson says: ‘I hurt my wife, yes… Any marks that’s on her, I take full responsibility for.’ Asked if he had ever throttled Miss Simpson, he admits that in the past he ‘could have touched her neck, yes’.

A tape also shows him being caught out in a lie connected to a bloody footprint found at the scene of the murders.

Simpson is currently serving up to 33 years in prison for armed robbery.
