Cheryl’s stupid to claim body-shaming should be illegal, says Amanda

- By Simon Cable and Rebecca Davison

AS two of Simon Cowell’s right-hand women, you might think Amanda Holden and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini have a lot in common.

But when it comes to how to deal with being in the spotlight, it seems the talent show judges have very different views.

Miss Holden has accused the singer of over-reacting to negative comments after the former Girls Aloud star called for ‘body-shaming’ to be made illegal.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge even said she was ‘stupid’ to suggest such comments about appearance should be banned.

Mrs Fernandez-Versini, 32, hit out against her critics last month after enduring weeks of speculation about her shrinking frame.

She said: ‘‘The body-shaming has to stop. It’s b*******. Something has to be done, changed, even if it’s done in law.’

However, 44-year-old Miss Holden, who is known for her revealing outfits, said female celebrities need to learn to accept critical reactions from others.

‘It’s a little stupid to say it should be illegal,’ she said. ‘Because where does it end? When you’re in the public eye, you have to take the good with the bad.’

Miss Holden, who was speaking to MailOn-line as she promoted pre-school toy Pebli Town, added: ‘You can’t complain. I think she’s gorgeous anyway.’

Since she was called ‘a bag of bones’ in June, Mrs Fernandez-Versini has suggested her dramatic weight loss had come after the recent death of her father-in-law.

Fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell has said she was not intentionally losing weight, putting her slimmer shape down to ‘a bug’.
