Victim denied justice . . .

-

I’M perplexed by the court case dealing with the killing of convicted paedophile Michael Pleasted by Sarah Sands. Too much emphasis has been put on the historical background of the victim.

How can Sands be found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter ‘by reason of loss of control’ when she visited her victim armed with a knife? That surely shows i ntent and premeditation?

Her sentence was halved because she is a single mother, giving too much emphasis to the social status of a criminal.

For someone to have three and a half years wiped off their jail sentence for such a reason seems wrong.

Do all non-parents risk going to prison for l onger periods simply because they have no children?

The sentence that Sands received is far too lenient and goes against the reasoning behind jail sentences. LAWRENCE WILLIAMS,
